As you may have noticed by the growing number of ‘Essentials’ categories on our website, here at TradeSparky we like to cut through all the many products available for sale to give you core recommendations of products perfect for your needs. We’re looking to grow our ‘Essentials’ selections more, and have some projects coming soon for you. For now, though, we thought for this week’s blog post we could do a run-through of a few products we recommend to go in your tool belt.

Side Cutters

Side cutters, also known as diagonal cutters, are a vital tool for any electrician’s belt, necessary for cutting wire, screws, etc! There are a wide range of side cutters available to help with your specific project.

For instance, Draper sell various side cutters which prioritise comfort, either through a soft-grip designed handle, or with the inclusion of a return spring for use in repetitive projects.

Similarly, Carl Kammering (CK) have a strong range of side cutters which look to combine comfort with a precise cut.

Pocket Spirit Level

The CK Pocket & Line Spirit Level is formed from a robust plastic, and is designed to adapt to various situations; having both vertical and horizontal vials, in addition to a magnetic base, allowing for use with steel.

Another strong choice is the Milwaukee Minibox Handy Level, made of lightweight aluminium, perfect to be slotted into your tool belt, and has a guaranteed lifetime accuracy!

As you’ll know, pliers are necessary for getting a tight grip on objects or bending various materials.

There are various manufacturers who you can trust with pliers; Draper, CK, Armeg and more have products designed for various specific applications; from adding slip guards and padded handles for comfortable and safe use, to pliers designed for use in high-voltage situations.

A quick search for pliers on our website will show you a wide range of products, where you can find the perfect plier for your job.

There are various screwdriver sets available from various manufacturers, so you can always slot the right product right into your tool belt from a set to carry with you on a project.

As an example, Armeg sell a set of insulated screwdrivers, 1000V VDE rated, safe for use on live installations.

Otherwise, Avit offer a pack of screwdrivers designed with chrome vanadium blades to offer lasting durability and soft-designed handles for working comfort. See more here.
