Telemecanique History
Telemecanique is a French industrial automation company that was founded in 1924 by Georges BĂ©rard and Jean Orsier. The company began as a small workshop in Annecy, France, producing electrical components and control systems for machinery. In the 1930s, Telemecanique expanded its operations to include the production of contactors, switches, and other electrical components for industrial applications.
During World War II, Telemecanique played a key role in the French resistance by manufacturing electrical components for the Allied forces. After the war, the company continued to grow and expand its product line. They did this by introducing new products such as circuit breakers and motor starters.
In the 1960s and 1970s, Telemecanique began to focus more on automation and control systems. In doing so they became a leader in the development of programmable logic controllers (PLCs). These devices allowed machines to be controlled automatically and remotely, greatly increasing productivity in industrial settings.
