Pendants for 2023/24 interior design trends

We have hand-picked a range of 2023 on-trend pendants to compliment or become the focal point of any room. These pendants incorporate a range of different interior design styles we are likely to see in 2023/24. These include:

Dopamine Decor - I like it, I bought it.

New to trend but old in theory, dopamine decor abolishes popular trends and focuses on the individual person.

The design trend that we saw emerge in 2022 is quite simply "I like it, I bought it". This is a sophisticated sense of teenage rebellion re envisioned and funded by an adult budget. This juxtaposition of a trend is to simply fill your space with things that you like, not taking into account what is popular with society. This interior design method is likely attributed to the Marie Kondo "Does it spark joy?" sensation from a few years back.

We have included a selection of this happy and dopamine evoking styles. Surround yourself with things that bring you joy.

Maximalism - More, more, more!

Minimalism is finally coming to an end for most homes. We are seeing a return of maximalism which is the art of more, more, more!

It's a collection of all things, often mix-match and eccentric. You will see a cross-over between dopamine decor and maximalist for those adventurous souls. This design style is really for those who want to express themselves in their spaces. To really achieve the maximalist look, ensure that you are packing the room similar to arranging a large bouquet of flowers - leave no gaps!

We have included a selection of bold and powerful statement lights to really evoke excitement.

Heritage - Something old, something new.

With minimalism being replaced with maximalism, you will see a sophisticated splinter group reverting back to heritage. This interior design trend will incorporate more of an old English feel with vintage and traditional style designs

These designs will follow very clean lines but incorporating historic design trends such as wood paneling, floral pattern wallpapers, stripes, reclaimed and vintage furnishings.

You can imagine palaces, state homes, manors and royalty for inspiration. If this style is a little too polished, you can visit cottages, barn-houses and countryhomes from the same era for a more rustic look.

We have included a range of traditional pendants with a touch of 2023 modernism.

Sustainability - Naturally beautiful.

Using natural, renewable materials is the goal (and the trend) for 2023. We are seeing designers revert back to traditional manufacturing practices using recycled sustainable materials such as wood and metal. This will be a massive trend as we look to reduce our carbon footprint and save the planet.

Endo Lighting is one of the worlds biggest and brightest light manufacturers, so it's no surprise that they are creating a (very clean) trail of eco-friendly innovations and practices. They often create unique looks with eco-friendly materials such as bamboo and rattan whilst embracing solar technology.

All of our collections include sustainable materials such as bamboo, metal, and glass.

Biophilic Luxury - The love of life!

Inspired by sustainability, we are now seeing an eccentric take on designs inspired by nature. We will see a fusion between nature, sustainability, and luxury bringing new eco inspired rich designs into the home. These designs will breathe elegance and class by reflecting mother natures timeless lines and effortless style. This collection focuses on a soft and welcoming environment intended to be comforting and awe-inspiring.

We have included eternal loops, flowing ropes, and even a volcanic rock pendant to bring luxury and nature together in your home.

Within this collection you will find naturally flowing designs inspired by nature.

Soft Modern - Subtle sophistication

Minimalism is still here to stay, but this time softer. Sharp white corners have been replaced with soft beige squircles. This design style is about subtle sophistication and soft furnishings. Whilst maximalism is about loud and expressive emotion, soft modern is about quiet relaxation in a no pressure environment.

This design style has likely emerged from the stress-induced, post pandemic, work-from-home environment. We have included a range of soft modern pendant lights to bring light and calmness into the home.

These pendants sit well with an abundance of soft furnishing such as shaggy rugs, bubble sofas, and cloud beds.

History of Pendant Lighting

Pendant lighting has a long history, dating back to ancient times. The Egyptians were one of the first civilizations to use pendant lights, which were made of clay and held oil lamps. The Greeks and Romans also used black pendant lighting, which was made of bronze or iron. During the Middle Ages, white pendant lighting was used in churches and cathedrals to illuminate religious paintings and sculptures.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, pendant lighting became more widely used in homes and other buildings. During this time, pendant lights were typically made of brass or other metals and held candles or gas lights. With the advent of electricity in the late 19th century, glass pendant lights evolved to include electric light bulbs. Today, lighting is available in a wide range of styles and materials, including glass, metal, and wood.
